Diane Best, born in Boston, studied at Stanford and the San Francisco Art Institute before moving to Los Angeles, where she created commercial artwork and commissioned portraits. In 1995, she relocated to Joshua Tree, focusing on the desert’s dramatic landscapes through painting, photography, and film. Inspired by both hot and cold deserts, she explores vast, harsh environments for their beauty and creative potential. Now based in Santa Fe and Joshua Tree, her work has been featured in numerous publications and documentaries.
